Manhunt for alleged kidnapper of girl, 3

NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Police in Delaware have issued an Amber Alert for a 3-year-old girl who they say was kidnapped by her father after he assaulted her mother.

Police are looking for 43-year-old Michael Trotta and 3-year-old Elinor Trotta, saying they believe the girl "is in imminent danger."

New Castle County Police say the FBI is helping in the search which has expanded to multiple states.

They say the girl's mother called them Monday night to report that her ex-boyfriend had just come to her home, assaulted her, and taken Elinor. Police believe Trotta may have fled with the girl to New Jersey or New York City.

He's described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, balding, and with a scruffy beard and mustache. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Elinor is 60 pounds with brown shoulder-length hair and was last seeing wearing a purple puffy coat, pink pants and "Frozen" sneakers.

Police say they found a 1989 gray Mazda Trotta is believed to have used to flee and, "It is now believed that he could be operating a bright red colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer."
