Man sought in triple murder barricaded in Chicago home

CHICAGO -- A man sought for questioning in a triple homicide reportedly fired several shots at police from inside a Chicago home where he is holed up, reports CBS Chicago.

Chicago Police First Deputy Supt. John Escalante said the man barricaded himself inside a home in the 10300 block of South Union Avenue around 4:30 a.m. Police had been searching for the man, who is a person of interest in the late Wednesday murders of two women and a man. Two of the victims died from gunshot wounds to the head, and one was shot in the back.

Escalante said the shooting appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute. All three victims were related, but their names have not yet been released.

Police have not specifically said the man sought for questioning is believed to be the gunman in the triple homicide, but Escalante said he is "definitely a person we would like to talk to."

"We do believe that the person we would like to speak to is in the residence. We are attempting to talk to him right now. We have Chicago police negotiators on scene who will attempt to reach out to him and talk to him," Escalante said.

Escalante said police are prepared to spend all day and night talking to the man to get him to come out safe.

"He may be watching right now, and so if he is, I just want to stress that to this young man who may be watching. That is our goal. We just want to bring him out safely," he said. "

SWAT teams have set up a perimeter around the home to keep people away. No nearby homes have been evacuated, and Escalante said police do not believe there is any immediate danger to the neighborhood.
