Man questioned in murder of Detroit firefighter

DETROIT-- Police are questioning a person of interest who they believe may have information regarding the death of 59-year-old David Madrigal, a city firefighter who was murdered in his home in December, CBS Detroit reports.

The man, whose identity was not released, was arrested on unrelated warrants.

The cause of Madrigal's death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head and was ruled a homicide.

Police said his son discovered Madrigal's body on the floor of the home on Dec. 21, after family members grew concerned they had not heard from Madrigal for days and he went to check on him. It is not clear how long Madrigal might have been dead before he was discovered.

Police say Madrigal's safe was missing along with his SUV, which was later found burned-out on a street about 10 miles east of his home.

Friends say Madrigal had planned to retire in June.
