Leon Russell and Elton John Launch Tour

NEW YORK (CBS) Elton John and Leon Russell are taking their show on the road.

The music icons are set to perform a number of concerts together to showcase "Union," their album of duets, which hit stores Tuesday.

Russell and John kicked off the live shows with a performance at New York's Beacon Theatre on Tuesday night.

John said during the concert that the collaboration with Russell was the "culmination of a remarkable journey ... (Leon) was my idol, he was my mentor, he was everything I wanted to be as a singer/songwriter and piano player."

According to the artists' websites, they will also perform together in London (Oct. 28); Los Angeles (Nov. 3); Ontario, Calif. (Nov. 5); Phoenix (Nov. 6); Tulsa, Okla. (Nov. 12); Fort Worth, Texas (Nov. 13); Daytona Beach, Fla. (Nov. 20); and Lakeland, Fla. (Nov. 21).
