"Kung Fu Panda 3" trailer released with new villain and family drama

Jack Black's back -- in black and white!

The trailer for "Kung Fu Panda 3," released Thursday, features the reunion of Jack Black as panda Po, with Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen and Lucy Liu as a pack of kung fu-fighting animals. Po has his own special reunion in the movie, with his long lost biological father Li (voiced by Bryan Cranston) who comes to the village searching for his son.

Also new to the scene is the trilogy's first supernatural villain ever, Kai, played by "Whiplash" meanie J.K. Simmons.

"I've played a variety of badasses in my career," Simmons said per USA Today. "I do like to mix it up. I like being a character actor playing different kinds of guys. Or, now, different kinds of beasts."

The DreamWorks feature, directed by Jennifer Yuh of "Panda" 1 and 2, is set for release in Jan. 29, 2016.
