Katie Couric sings backup for Jimmy Buffett
(CBS/AP) Fans who went to see a Jimmy Buffet concert in Indiana earlier this week were surprised to see another famous face take the stage.
Katie Couric sang backup for Buffett on several songs Tuesday during a concert in Noblesville, Ind., about 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
The ABC newswoman and TV personality shared a photo (at left) with her Twitter followers before going on stage, writing, "Getting ready to be a Reeferette last night for @JimmyBuffett!!"
The backup singing gig was part of a "YOLO" ("You Only Live Once") segment being taped for Couric's new daytime talk show, "Katie," the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Couric told WRTV-TV in Indianapolis that she thought it would be a "fun, very visual kind of little fling."
"She can sing. So, it could be a career-starting move for her. I don't think it's going to be a career-ending move for me," Buffet said of Couric, according to WRTV-TV.
"Katie" is set to debut Sept. 10 on ABC.
