"Justified" returns Tuesday for a fourth season with more crime, mystery and a little romance.

For the season premiere episode, titled "Hole in the Wall," Timothy Olyphant is back in the shoes of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. The last time we saw him, he was facing off against nasty politics and hidden fortunes, as well as tackling a mysterious criminal ringleader named Limehouse, and a gangster named Quarles.

Raylan will start to explore a cold case 30-plus years in the making, which will shed light on a riddle that echoes back to his childhood and the bad dealings of his criminal father, Arlo, played by Raymond J. Barry.

The season premiere goes back in time to unveil a piece of valuable information.

"Arlo's confronted with that and does something in the first episode that we hope is shocking," Graham Yost, executive producer, told Entertainment Weekly. "And that's part of what sets the whole mystery in motion."

Also this season, "Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) finds his grip on Harlan loosening due to a Pentecostal preacher with a penchant for theatrics and a knack for manipulation to rival his own," according to the "Justified" site.

Olyphant, who also serves as executive producer on the show, recently spoke about what to expect.

"We're doing our best to try to keep the story both familiar and unexpected," he said in an interview, reports Star Pulse. "When we sit down to concoct these things, we're looking for the unexpected, and hopefully we've got that this year."

"Justified" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
