Julia Niswender Death: Funeral held for Eastern Mich. U coed, police view case as homicide

(CBS) MONROE, Mich. - Funeral services were held Monday morning in Monroe, Mich., for Julia Niswender, the Eastern Michigan University student whose mysterious death police are treating as a homicide, CBS Detroit reports.

Monroe, 23 of Monroe, was found dead in her off-campus apartment last week.

According to Ypsilanti police, an autopsy has been performed by the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner, but the cause of death is still listed as "pending." Toxicology results should be available in two to three weeks, WWJ reports.

According to the station, authorities say there were no outward signs of trauma to Niswender's body. However, the Detroit Free Press reports police consider her death a homicide. 

There have been no arrests in the case,  Ypsilanti Police Lt. Deric Gress said, according to the paper.
