John Hartge has been a CBS News Radio correspondent since 1993. He is a broadcast veteran with more than 30 years' experience in the nation's capital.
Hartge performs a variety of roles at CBS News. He is a general assignment reporter covering Washington-based stories. He also serves as an anchor for breaking news updates, reporting on such major stories as the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, the 9-11 terrorist attacks, the 2008 election and Presidential news conferences. He is an automobile enthusiast and reports regularly on automotive safety and technology developments.
Prior to CBS, Hartge was a business and consumer news correspondent at Westwood One/NBC/Mutual Radio. He also has experience as a local news anchor in Washington and Baltimore.
Hartge has a BA from the University of Maryland, where he majored in History.
