Jimmy Fallon wants to be a member of One Direction

Is it time to make One Direction a six-member boy band? If Jimmy Fallon had his way, it wouldn't even be a question!

One day after the lads joined Jimmy and The Roots for a festive performance of the Christmas classic "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" with classroom instruments, they all returned for a proper sit-down on the "Tonight Show."

A good portion of the segment was Jimmy jokingly trying to insert himself into the popular boy band, who are about to embark on a massive world tour in support of their latest album, "Four."The fivesome also had a busy night on NBC, as their primetime special aired earlier in the evening on Dec. 23.

When Harry Styles brought up that the images on the vinyls -- which featured the guys casually sitting on the ground in various locations -- was an accurate depiction of how they hang out in real life ("We just kind of sit around like this," Harry deadpans), that's when Jimmy brought it down to floor level.

Doing his best British accent, or, really a John Lennon impression, Jimmy says, before cracking himself up, "I feel like I could fit in the band." We think there may be some truth there!

While this may be 1D's first official appearance on the "Tonight Show," Harry has "appeared" once before. Jimmy "interviewed" the well-coifed 20-year-old heartthrob (really Kristen Wiig in a wig and a Harry-approved wardrobe) back in February, where the two sang 1D's hit "What Makes You Beautiful."

This past weekend, Harry and Kristen met up after their stints on "Saturday Night Live," dancing up a storm!
