POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (CBS/WTVR) He's serving 16 years for involuntary manslaughter, but that reportedly hasn't stopped Joe Parrish from updating his Facebook page - and now the the Virginia Department of Corrections has launched an investigation to find out how he's doing it.

Parrish is currently doing time in the death of Tahliek Taliaferro, who was shot and killed in Powhatan County in June 2008.

Larry Traylor, a spokesman for the Virginia Department of Corrections, told CBS affiliate WTVR that Virginia inmates are not allowed to use the Internet or have access to cell phones.

Traylor also suggests that a friend or family member may be posting messages for Parrish. He says regardless, the warden has been alerted.

The Facebook page in question lists Parrish's address as the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Va.

It also includes postings that seem to be made in the first person, like "Had a good visit with my sister and Kara," and "I'm good...how are you..I have my peeps working my Facebook..lol."

As of press time, the Facebook page is still live.

"It makes me angry," Jean Taliaferro, Tahliek's grandmother, told WTVR. "I didn't know a prisoner could tweet or use Facebook."

Taliaferro said the Facebook revelation has added to what has already been a horrible month. Last Tuesday would have been Tahliek's 21st birthday.
