(CBS/AP) NEWARK - Two men were gunned down in Newark over the weekend, making them the 63rd and 64th homicide victims in the city this year.

The deaths of 23-year-old Damien Matteaux and 16-year-old Nyquese McCollum came about two weeks after a 10-day period in which 10 people were murdered in the city.

Matteaux, of Newark, and McCollum, of Irvington, were found shot to death in a parked vehicle in the city's West Ward on Saturday afternoon, law enforcement officials said.

The man and girl were cousins, and it appears Matteaux was the target of the shooting, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. Police say the motive is unclear.

McCollum and Matteaux were en route to pick up Matteau'x girlfriend at her workplace in Union, prosecutors said.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon, police said.
