Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling face off in the first "Blade Runner 2049" teaser

The first look at director Denis Villeneuve’s take on a sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic “Blade Runner” is here, and the results are very promising.

The new film teams Harrison Ford’s LAPD replicant hunter, Rick Deckard, with a younger counterpart (Ryan Gosling), but details of the plot are being kept intentionally vague.

“Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos,” the official synopsis reads. ‘K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”

The film also stars Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Barkhad Abdi and Mackenzie Davis. Ridley Scott, who directed the first film, serves as executive producer.

“Blade Runner 2049” hits theaters on October 6, 2017.
