Girls found selling toys, mom arrested for neglect

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- April Emery, a central Florida mother, was arrested for child neglect after her two daughters were found going door to door trying to sell their toys, reports CBS Miami.

According to the station, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office says the girls, ages 7 and 9, were walking about half a mile from their home Thursday, and told deputies they were selling their toys "to help mommy stay in the house."

The deputies found Emery at home sleeping. When authorities awoke her, she allegedly said she was angry because the girls had forgotten to wake her up so she could take them to school.

Emery was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm. The girls were removed from the home and are staying with a family member while child welfare officials investigate, CBS Miami reported.
