George Zimmerman Update: New evidence released in Trayvon Martin shooting

(CBS) ORLANDO, Fla. - Special Prosecutor Angela Corey has released new evidence in the fatal shooting Florida teen Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman.

The documents released Thursday include reports from the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, CBS affiliate WTSP reports.

The FBI is conducting a probe into whether there were civil rights violations in the handling of Martin's death investigation, and the FDLE assisted the criminal investigation, WTSP reports.

Thursday's evidence includes statements from Zimmerman's former girlfriend who accused him of domestic violence, interviews with employees from the gun shop where Zimmerman bought the gun used to kill Martin and an interview with a state beverage agent who claims Zimmerman battered him as he tried to arrest someone else for underage drinking, according to CBS affiliate WKMG.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in 17-year-old Martin's death on Feb. 26 . Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and claims the shooting was self-defense under the state's "stand your ground" law.
