Country icon George Jones is ill and has canceled a concert scheduled this week at Minnesota casino.

Jones, 81, was scheduled to perform Friday at the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel and Event Center in Mahnomen. That concert had been rescheduled from April, when Jones needed more time to recover from an upper respiratory infection.

"As everyone knows, George has battled with upper respiratory problems all year, which in fact caused the postponement of his show earlier this year," Jones' management team said in a statement posted on the casino's website. "He has gotten a virus that doctors are treating, but he is unable to perform his weekend at Shooting Star. George apologizes to all his fans for all the inconvenience."

Shooting Star says there are no plans to reschedule the performance. Ticket-buyers will receive a refund.
