(CBS/KCBS) CANOGA PARK, Calif. - Los Angeles County police say they served a search warrant at a home in Canoga Park around 7:30 a.m. in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of 20th Century Fox executive Gavin Smith.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told CBS Los Angeles that the warrant is just another step in the department's investigation. The home the authorities searched was not Smith's.

"We still do not have any indication of any wrongdoing," Whitmore reportedly said. "This was just a location where our investigators believe there may be some information that could lead us to the whereabouts of Mr. Smith."

An eyewitness told the station that there appeared to be SWAT officers present at the scene.

Although Whitmore would not tell CBS Los Angeles what items were recovered in the search, Los Angeles Times reports neighbors said officers left with boxes, a computer and a black Audi SUV.

Smith, 57, who has been an executive in Fox's movie distribution division for more than 18 years, was last seen driving his black Mercedes 420E sedan on May 1 near his Oak Park home.

Smith is described as 6-feet-6 inches tall, about 210 pounds. He has a goatee, gray hair with blond highlights and green eyes. He is reportedly married and the father of three.

Authorities are asking for the public's help. They're asking anyone with information to call 800-222-TIPS (8477).
