Threw Grits: Man charged with murder try for greasy attack

ORLANDO, Fla. - An Orlando man is charged with attempted second-degree murder after he allegedly dumped hot grits on another man after an ongoing dispute, causing severe burns, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Edward Holley was arrested after the argument with a neighbor escalated Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, according to the Orlando Sentinel , was 29-year -old Darryl Blacknell.

Witnesses told WKMG the two men fight regularly, and that their latest confrontation started Tuesday night.

The Sentinel reported that this time they had a pushing match outside Holley's home, and that he warned Blacknell to stay away. But the next day, Blacknell was back.

Authorities say Holley, 59, told the victim, "I've got something for you," and proceeded to take a pan from inside his house filled with "scalding hot greasy grits" and dump it on the victim, according to WKMG.

When police arrived, according to WKMG, Holley told them that if "you are going to arrest me then just arrest me now, cause next time I am going to kill him."

Holley allegedly blamed the argument on the Blacknell. However, witnesses say Holley has picked fights with the victim before.

Blacknell suffered second- and third-degree burns on 30 percent of his body, says WKMG.

Holley was in custody in the Orange County jail.
