Father, stepmother held in suspected starving death of missing Texas boy

Johnathan Ramsey KWTX

(CBS/AP) DALLAS - The father and stepmother of a missing 11-year-old Texas boy are in custody after police say the child may have starved to death as much as a year ago.

The boy's father, Aaron Ramsey, and stepmother, Elizabeth Ramsey, are charged with felony injury to a child and are being held on $500,000 bond each.

Police records state that the father limited Johnathan Ramsey to mostly bread and water as punishment and once watched him eat his own feces, according to the the Dallas Morning News.

The investigation began after the boy's grandfather called police because he hadn't seen the boy for almost a year, reports CBS Dallas.

The boy's mother, who lives in another state, told investigators Aaron Ramsey would make up stories about where the child was when she called to speak to him, CBS Dallas reports. The boy's grandfather said the same thing.

Police are still searching for Johnathan Ramsey's remains, which they believe may be located in neighboring Ellis County.
