Fatal shooting after party at $3.3M mansion, rented online

LYNNFIELD, Mass. - A man was fatally shot Sunday during a party at a multi-million-dollar Massachusetts home which the homeowner had rented for the Memorial Day weekend using the website "FlipKey."

Police responded to a report of a shooting in Lynnfield at about 3 a.m.

The victim, 33-year-old Keivan Heath, of Randolph, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homeowner Alex Styller told CBS Boston he was "still in shock." He said he had rented the home to a group of people about three months ago for what he thought was a small college reunion. He said they seemed "very nice, very polite, very responsive." He told the Boston Globe his real estate broker informed him of the shooting.

Styller said he often rents out the home for corporate events and other gatherings. He told the paper he had used the service "FlipKey" to connect with the renters this weekend, but in the past has also used the popular home rental sites Homeaway and AirBnB. The$3.35 million home's listing on AirBnB reportedly advertises it as a luxurious accommodation and notes that parties are prohibited.

Styller told the paper he didn't believe the renters knew the victim, and said police told him there were anywhere from 60 to 100 people at the party.

FlipKey is part of TripAdvisor. The paper couldn't reach TripAdvisor for comment.

Massachusetts state police and Lynnfield police are investigating. No arrests have been made.

Styller told the paper he plans to continue to rent the home despite the incident.

"I just continue to believe that most of the people are great, wonderful, trustworthy, responsible, reliable people and individuals," he said.
