Fans call on Kanye West to run for president in 2020

Many fans are looking to Kanye West to keep the promise he made at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards to run for president in 2020 -- though whether they’re serious about it or not is up for debate.

As it became clear early Wednesday that Donald Trump had won the presidential election, many immediately began thinking about a plan for four years from now.

West first put forward the idea -- which was met with more than a little ridicule -- about making a run in 2020, and he reiterated his intentions earlier this year during an interview with the BBC.

“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” he said. “I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day to somehow make a difference while I’m alive, I’m going to try to do it.”

Many of West’s fans now, it seems, are looking to keep him to his word.
