Elderly Calif. man found decapitated at home, cousin says

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Authorities are investigating the death of a man in Los Angeles County whom a family member says was found decapitated, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The gruesome discovery was made at 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The victim's cousin said the man's beheaded body was found inside the Villa Glen apartment complex in Inglewood. She identified the victim as Robert Hollis. Hes was reportedly in his mid-70s and an active churchgoer.

"It's so hard to process and so vicious in the manner it was done....so vicious," said cousin Alysia Powell.

Powell told the station that Hollis, who people nicknamed Bo Jangles, was retired but sang in two church choirs.

"Bo was an incredibly kind and loving person. Very much an artist," she said.

She told the station that nothing was stolen from his home and he was even wearing all his jewelry when he was found. She also said the victim's head was not discovered near the body, nor in the immediate area.

Inglewood police spent the afternoon and evening collecting evidence, but wouldn't confirm how the victim died. They did say that the suspect remained on the loose.

CBS Los Angeles also spoke with the ex-wife of the victim, who said they had been married for 26 years. She said Hollise was 80 percent blind, was learning to read braille and was in the process of getting a service dog.
