(CBS/WBZ/WHSM) WESTFIELD, Mass. - Officials in Westfield, Massachusetts are vowing to make arrests in the killing of a popular duck at a local park, reports CBS station WBZ.

The park posted on its website that their resident Muscovy Duck, Ozzie, was killed on Friday afternoon, Nov. 11, by a group ranging from 12 to 16 years of age, who reportedly stomped the duck to death.

"Ozzie came to Stanley Park a few years ago and has been a special member of our duck, geese & swan family ever since," said Bob McKean, managing director, on the park's website, according to WBZ.

McKean told CBS affiliate WSHM, "We have a good couple leads and the police department is searching that out."

"It's the injustice to a poor little animal that makes everybody upset and so are we and that's why we want justice," said McKean.

Ozzie was a favorite for the past two years at the park's duck pond, drawing in observers and creating fans. Cards written by children missing their favorite duck now hang on the walls of the covered bridge where Ozzie was killed.

"In Massachusetts, it's a felony and it's up to five years in prison," said McKean.

Officials hope to use the good will generated by the duck to help tighten security.

"We're also setting up an Ozzie fund so we can have surveillance cameras down here and actually put it on the web so everybody can watch the park and be our own security even though we might be closed."
