The California Highway Patrol said Ryan sustained major head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ryan received media attention earlier this year after performing a 10-hour procedure on Montag. The 23-year-old former "Hills" star wrote on her Twitter page that she was "devastated"  when she heard the news.

"He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met. He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world," she wrote.

Ryan had  also preformed plastic surgeries for a handful of other celebs, including Gene Simmons, Vince Neil, Adrianne Curry, and Janice Dickinson.
