"Dallas" canceled after three seasons

The cast of "Dallas" won't be back for a fourth season after all.

Shortly after the shocking season 3 finale, TNT has announced that it's canceling the show.

"TNT has decided not to renew Dallas. We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show's creative forces, [executive producers] Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin," a TNT spokesperson said in a statement per Entertainment Weekly. "We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series."

Ratings for the new "Dallas" got off to a good start, but have slowed recently. Still, the series appeared to have a steady following.

The reboot of the original CBS series featured new and familiar cast members, including Linda Gray, Juan Pablo Di Pace, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Josh Henderson, Jordana Brewster, Judith Light and Jesse Metcalfe. Original "Dallas" cast member Larry Hagman died during the filming of season 2.

Judith Light: From "Who's the Boss?" to "Dallas" 06:18

We recently caught up with Light, who opened up about her character, Judith Ryland, a matriarch of a rival family to the Ewings of Southfork.

"I wouldn't call her evil," Light told CBS News about her character, a fan favorite on the show. "I would call her interested in lots of different areas of life. You look at a character like that and you remember that Larry Hagman played J.R. and he had such delight in playing a character that everybody considered evil. But there were other components to his character....That's how I feel the writers have worked with me. They have made her multilevel."
