Dad says man with "fake eye" tried to snatch his infant

NEW YORK — A New York City father claims a man tried to take his 5-month-old son from a stroller while they were out for a walk Sunday afternoon, reports CBS New York.

The father told the station that he was taking his son out for a walk around 4:30 p.m., on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, when he was approached by a strange man who seemed to zero in on his son in the stroller.

“It wasn’t a situation where someone is admiring your child,” he said. “It was incredibly aggressive and he was going to grab my child.”

He said the man, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up over his head, made a move for his baby boy.

The father said he moved in to defend to his baby, elbowing the man in the face.

“I unpolitely said to him, ‘If you come near my son, I’m going to kill you,’” he said.

The father then noticed something unusual about the alleged would-be kidnapper.

“He had a fake eye, I’ll never forget it,” he said. “The (pupil) was elongated like a cat’s eye and it was yellow.”

Police confirmed that the father reported the incident and that they are currently searching for a suspect in his 40s who may have a prosthetic eye.
