Cousins face murder charge in strangulation death

FORT WORTH -- Two men have been arrested in connection with the strangulation of a 33-year-old man found dead inside his truck one year ago.

According to the Star-Telegram, Eusebio "Boo Boo" Rodriguez, 35, of Fort Worth, was arrested Wednesday and remained in jail with bail set at $50,000. Police arrested his cousin, Danny Roy Davila, 36, of Haltom City on Friday night. Davila was released Saturday after posting bond in the case.

The cousins are accused in the strangulation death of Luis Miguel Duenez.

Duenez's body was found April 18, 2013 in the front seat of his 2002 Dodge pickup truck in a parking lot in Fort Worth. Police found evidence that a struggle had occurred in the pickup, and an autopsy revealed that he had been strangled with a ligature, said the Star.

DNA samples from inside the truck matched a profile of Davila in a DNA database, police say. On March 26, Davila agreed to talk to homicide detectives E.C. Pate and J. Cedillo and admitted his involvement in the murder, they said.

Davila allegedly told the investigators that he was driving Duenez's truck and an altercation took place between his cousin, Rodriguez, and Duenez, telling detectives that he held Duenez while Rodriguez assaulted him. Reportedly, Davila told police that his own hand was cut and bled during the struggle.

After the altercation, Davila and Rodriguez apparently abandoned Duenez's truck with his body inside and walked to Davila's girlfriend's nearby house, where Davila said he borrowed a car and drove Rodriguez to a relative's house to get him out of the area.
