Couric Interviews U.S. AG Eric Holder

In his first exclusive television interview since taking office, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is speaking with CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric. The one-on-one in-depth discussion will cover major issues currently dominating news headlines.

The interview will be broadcast Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ET. And watch for extras from the interview on CBSNews.com.

Holder has been in the forefront of many news developments coming from the Obama administration, including:

  • A change in the government's approach to medicinal marijuana
  • Measures to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
  • Tougher measures to address drug related violence on the U.S.- Mexico border
  • Dropping the criminal case against Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens

    Holder, was Janet Reno's number two at the Justice Department during the Clinton administration. After leaving the government in 2001, Holder, was a partner at Covington & Burling LLP. Prior to becoming deputy attorney general in 1997, Holder was a U.S. Attorney and a judge in Washington. He also spent many years as an attorney at the justice department. His bachelor's and law degree are from Columbia University.
