Cops: "Strong possibility" missing Ga. woman's remains found
FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities say there is a "strong possibility" remains found are those of a missing Georgia woman, reports CBS Atlanta.
The remains were found in a wooded area in Floyd County on Friday.
The Floyd County Sheriff's Department said in a statement released Friday that the discovery was made within walking distance of the area where Ashley Jones was last seen alive, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Jones, a 24-year-old mother of three, was reported missing by her family in early February.
Cyndi Jones, Ashley's mother, posted a message on Facebook Friday saying, in part, "My beautiful daughter was found today. I am heartbroken to say that she is no longer with us. I cannot express to you the heartache and pain I feel."
CBS Atlanta reports the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was expected to examine the remains on Tuesday.
A call to the Floyd County Sheriff's Department was not immediately returned.
