Cops: Pa. man crawls through doggy door, threatens ex-boss

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Police say a Pittsburgh man crawled through a doggy door at his former employer's house, attempted to rob him and threatened him with a knife, reports CBS affiliate KDKA.

Police say Michael Pistorius - no known relation to Oscar - broke into the home of his neighbor and former boss Frank Comport Monday night in the city's Overbrook section. But according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Comport fought back, hitting Pistorius with a baseball bat and holding him down until help arrived.

Comport told CBS Pittsburgh he and his girlfriend were asleep on the couch when the intruder broke in.

"I thought it was the dog coming through the dog door. Here, there's a crazy man with a knife standing over us while we're sleeping," Comport told CBS Pittsburgh.

Comport said Pistorius held a knife to his throat and demanded cash. He and his girlfriend reportedly ran outside for help.

"She was able to run out of the house while he was distracted with me and get my neighbor who came over with a ball bat," Comport said.

Comport said he and the neighbor together held Pistorius at bay until police arrived.

Police said Pistorius was a former employee of Comport who was angry over being fired.

"[He] stated, 'I will come back.' and apparently made good on his threat," Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Ron Tardivo told the station.

As might be expected, Pistorius has a different - if rather complicated - version of events, according to the Post-Gazette. He told police he went to Comport's house to buy drugs but was short on money, so Comport and the neighbor tried to kill him. Pistorius was badly beaten, according to CBS Pittsburgh.

Neither Comport nor his neighbor has been charged, reports the paper.

Pistorius is charged with aggravated assault, burglary and robbery.
