Cops: Man stabs wife after marriage counseling session

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A Florida man is accused of repeatedly stabbing his wife after they attended a marriage counseling session, reports CBS Tampa Bay.

Port Charlotte authorities say that 50-year-old Jeanwell Napolean stabbed his wife multiple times after meeting with their pastor for marriage counseling.

Pastor Andre Dallemand was called to the house by Napolean's wife, Marie Napolean, to help the couple work through their issues. After Dallemand left, he heard screaming coming from inside, reports the station.

"She yelled, 'You're going to kill me!'" Dallemande told Fox affiliate WFTX-TV. "And then when I get inside I saw him with a big knife. He already stabbed her."

Dallemand says he was shocked because Napolean was not acting violently while he met with the couple, who had reportedly been married for 19 years.

"I didn't expect anything like this to happen because she was caressing him talking about love," the pastor told NBC affiliate WBBH-TV.

Marie Napolean was stabbed in the bicep, abdomen and lower back, according to CBS Tampa Bay. She was transported to a hospital where she was being treated but WFTX reports she has since been released.

The couple's nephew told WBBH that his uncle "snapped" over a pastor position he didn't get.

Jeanwell Napolean has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Charlotte County Jail.
