Cops: Alabama teen shot in video game controller dispute

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Police say a Birmingham teen was fatally shot in a struggle over a gun during a dispute about a video game controller.

Al.com reports that 18-year-old Bobby Baker was shot to death by his 21-year-old cousin on Friday night, Oct. 2.

Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards says the suspect walked into Baker's room and knocked the video controller out of his hand. They began wrestling with each other, a gun was removed from the suspect's waist, and the two started fighting over the gun before it discharged.

Edwards says Baker was shot in the chest. Officers found the teen on the floor in an upstairs hallway of the home.

Baker was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.

The suspect was being held at the Birmingham City Jail.
