(CBS/WTOP/AP) PALMER PARK, Md. - Maryland police are asking for the public's help in the search for a murder suspect who was allegedly released from jail after he was mistakenly granted bail.

Frederick Scott, 24, is charged with shooting 30-year-old Phillip Watson in March. He was arrested in May in Las Vegas, where he was extradited to Maryland and held without bond.

However, police say that because of a clerical error, Scott was granted bond and released earlier this month. A bench warrant was issued by the court for Scott on Friday, when the mistake was first noticed.

CBS radio affiliate WTOP describes Scott as black, 5-foot-7 tall and 155 pounds.

Police ask that anyone with information call 301-772-4925 or text "PGPD plus your message to CRIMES (274637) on your cell phone.
