Ciara is candidly sharing about her relationship with boyfriend and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Their relationship attracted attention last month when the NFL star revealed during a Q&A session at San Diego's Rock Church that he and Ciara, who have been dating for over half a year, were trying to be celibate.

"It was one of those things where it was an organic conversation he was having. I don't think he expected to talk about it either, but I guess he's just speaking the reality of what is going on," Ciara said. "It was at church, and I think the cool thing is just that being able to share our journey with other people like us."

While they are Christians and believe in God, Ciara said their decision was also driven by the desire to get to know and love each other based on a "solid foundation."

"It's a great challenge, I can definitely say that, but it's awesome because we get to learn, we get to really challenge ourselves," Ciara said.

Ciara also opened up about her ex-fiancé, rapper Future, amid rumors that he's upset she's introduced their 1-year-old son to her new beau.

"I feel like in a sense, it's a bit of a double standard because at one point in time when we were together, I took care of his kids as well at a very young time in our relationship," Ciara said Wednesday on "CBS This Morning."

Future has four children from previous relationships.

"I was involved, very early in the stage of us getting to know each other and that's been a big conversation," she added. "It's kind of like, 'What's the difference here?' I think that even for the men that were outspoken ... wouldn't you want someone to love on your child or love on the child you're speaking about? More than anything, it is a child we're talking about, and that's the thing that I think people have to think about. It's like, remove the adults from the situation. Really, this is my child here, and that's serious."

While Ciara said she reached out to Future to talk about Wilson, her ex did not want to speak to her.

"I don't know what more they would expect me to do than just to live my life, and that's what I'm doing. And my son is the most important," she said.

Aside from spending time her son and Wilson, the Grammy Award-winner is back with new music this summer. Ciara's latest project "Jackie," named after her mother, is her sixth studio album. The music video for her new single "Dance Like We're Making Love" has more than 20 million views online.

"I wanted for people to get to really hear my voice. And after having my child, it kind of allowed me to be in tune with my true feelings and my true thoughts," Ciara said. "And I'm just kind of like, 'I am who I am. Take it or leave it.' I just poured all that into the music and allowed myself just to be free in the process."

She also learned the value of vulnerability.

"Being vulnerable, you allow yourself to grow. You allow yourself to heal," Ciara reflected.

Known for her dance routines and choreography, Ciara has sold more than 10 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide over the past decade.
