James Gilchrist, the managing veterinarian at the Waterville Veterinary Clinic, told the station the cat was found last month in a field with a 27-inch arrow lodged through its abdomen.

The cat underwent two surgeries and is expected to survive. He's been adopted by a veterinary technician and just needs his stitches removed before he goes to his new home Thursday.

Some have suggested naming the cat Robin Hood or arrow, but the feline's new owner didn't want a name that reflected the injury, according to WTVH. He has been temporarily named Norman.

Police are investigating who shot the arrow.
