Donning a platinum blonde wig reminiscent of Carol Channing's hairdo, Spears embarked on yet another night out on the town, which began with an serious dinner Sunday with her father, Jamie, at Stevie's Creole Cafe in Encino, Calif.
"Britney and her dad ate in a private VIP section," a restaurant staffer told the New York Daily News. "She was wearing a blond wig and a black hat. She was in such an intense conversation with her dad that no one wanted to bother her."
"No one noticed her — so much so that no one ever went over to her and offered her a drink or anything ... She was wearing sunglasses for at least part of the time she was inside, which might have been why," a source told People magazine.
The party was a karaoke-themed event and one of the guests — unaware that Spears was among them — requested the pop singer's first hit, "... Baby One More Time." Spears left shortly after the performance at around 1 a.m. with a brunette friend who drove the singer in a sedan.
"I guess it was a bad rendition of the song or something, and she left," the source told People.
They stopped at the upscale Beverly Hills Hotel, where paparazzi following the car had to be removed from the driveway. The hotel refused to tell the New York Daily News whether Spears only stayed for cocktails or spent the night.
Over the weekend, Spear's former friend, Paris Hilton, celebrated her 26th birthday in Las Vegas where a source told the Daily News that "Britney was the butt of everyone's joke. All the girls kept saying how fugly she looked as a baldie."
Spears, 25, shaved her head Friday at Esther's Hair Cutting Studio in Tarzana, Calif. just two days after reportedly checking into Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre rehab clinic on the Caribbean island of Antigua, where she stayed for just one day.
A source told the New York Post that Spears shaved her much-dyed hair to rebel against her mother, Lynne, who reportedly has been pressuring her daughter to clean up her act and take better care of the two sons she has with estranged husband Kevin Federline, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Lynne Spears, who lives in Kentwood, La., flew to California to help take care of the boys, gave the paparazzi a thumbs up after being asked how her daughter was doing on Friday.
Another source told the Post that Spears may have shaved her head because her hair was severely damaged from all the dye jobs and extensions that bald spots had begun to appear.
In addition, OK! magazine has reported that that Spears is selling the six-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion she bought two months ago for $7.2 million.
