Boy, 16, accused in downtown Nashville bus station shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Authorities have arrested a 16-year-old boy wanted in connection with the shootings of four people at a downtown Nashville bus terminal that left one person critically wounded and dozens of commuters scrambling for cover.

Metro Nashville police said in a news release that the teenager confessed Thursday that the critically wounded victim, 18-year-old Javious Chatman, was the intended target of the shooting at the Music City Central transit facility on Monday afternoon.

Police say the three other victims - all teenage boys - suffered graze wounds.

Police say the boy was arrested after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon. He has been charged with one count of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of unlawful handgun possession.

The Associated Press generally does not identify juveniles charged with crimes.
