"I think that, back 12-and-a-half years ago, when we first went on the air, it was a shock to bring someone as obnoxious as me into prime time," he remarked to Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith Tuesday, "but I thought it could work. And it has."
O'Reilly told Smith he thinks arming merchant vessels would solve the pirate problem off the coast of Somalia, and that President Obama should give the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame, despite controversy among Catholics in the university arena about Mr. Obama's stand on abortion.
O'Reilly also had a potential bone to pick with the Obamas' new dog, Bo. "It looks like a cute dog," O'Reilly said, "but is a dog a left-winger? I don't know."
