Baltimore police probe "enjoy your ride" transport van sign

BALTIMORE - A sign posted inside a Baltimore police transport van that tells passengers: "Enjoy your ride, cuz we sure will!" has prompted an investigation.

The probe was reportedly sparked by a woman who sent a photo of the sign to WBAL-TV. The woman reportedly snapped the photo Tuesday after the van's doors were left open near the central district station.

After the photo was made public, Baltimore police released a statement Friday calling the sign "concerning and unacceptable." The department says Deputy Police Commissioner Dean Palmere has ordered an inspection of all department vehicles and internal investigations will be initiated "when appropriate."

The revelation comes after six Baltimore police officers were charged in the April death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who was fatally injured while in custody. An autopsy report leaked to the Baltimore Sun shows Gray died of a high-impact injury as a result of not being secured in a transport van.
