Arabian show horse rescued 2 miles out at sea

(CBS News) A boat was used to rescue a white Arabian horse that got spooked during a photo shoot Wednesday, the Santa Barbara California Independent reports. Rescuers found the 7-year-old show horse two miles out, and towed him to shore. He was then handed over to its owner and a vet for care.

The paper reports the horse, named William, was spooked by the sound and sight of the breaking surf and broke free of his handler, racing up and down the beach before eventually diving into the chilly water.

The horse swam two miles into the Santa Barbara Channel. It's now recovering after nearly three hours in the cold water.
