(CBS/AP) DILLSBURG, Pa. - A 34-year-old Pennsylvania teacher is facing charges after police said she let a student to do body piercings in her classroom, including on her, reported CBS Philly.

According to the station, police said April Beard, a former family and consumer science teacher at Northern York County High School, has been charged with endangering the welfare of children and the corruption of minors after an April 16 incident.

Authorities in Carroll Township said Beard let a student, who brought a piercing kit to school, pierce the teacher's ear and then pierce another student's stomach without getting parental consent, said CBS Philly.

School officials told the station that it has been investigating the incident since it happened and that Beard resigned in May.

Robert Daniels, the suspect's attorney, said Beard acknowledges her "lapse of judgment" and is a good person, and was a good teacher, reported CBS Philly.
