(CBS) - Waiting anxiously for a February iPad 3 release date? Don't hold your breath. Sources say we won't see an Apple iPad 3 event until March.
The Japanese blog Macotakara, which previously predicted that the iPad 3 would be announced in February, is backpedaling on its report.
"I reported that Apple was going to hold Special Event in early February according to Asian supplier and source from United States, but this report told a half-side of truth. Apple will hold 'Strange' event at February instead of Special Event," Macotakara blogger Danbo said, "Special Event for new products will be hold in early March and will release products during March as usual.[sic]
Mashable noticed French and German iPad 3 books were set to launch on Amazon's European site on March 29. Meaning, the iPad 3 would have to be released before that date. The Loop has also come out saying the February release date is false.
Photos obtained by Boy Genius Report show specs for two iPad 3 prototypes, which include a new A6 processor and 4G LTE. The two iPads are not different models, just different versions of the same device. There is no word on whether the new iPad will have Retina Display.
over the iPad 3's release date include a note by Citi analyst Richard Gardner saying the tablet would come out in February, which was reported by Business Insider. Another came from the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News, which claimed the iPad 3 would be launched in March or the middle of the first quarter.
The original iPad launched in April 2010 and the iPad 2 in March 2011.
