An Old Friend Visits The Briefing Room
When asked if he missed his former colleagues during his first visit to the White House Briefing Room since its renovation two years ago, Former Press Secretary James Brady replied, "I miss some of you."
It was as though little time had passed since Brady visited the room named after him in 2000. CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante asked if he had any advice for the "kids" and Brady exclaimed, "No," which was met with laughs from the rest of the room
Brady served as press secretary under President Reagan until he was shot and severely wounded by John Hinckley after an attempt on the president's life in 1981. Ironically, Brady's visit came the same day a federal judge ruled that Hinckley could spend more time away from his psychiatric hospital and apply for a driver's license.
