Alanna Gallagher, 6, identified by Texas authorities as girl found dead, nude, wrapped in tarp

(CBS/CBSDFW/AP) SAGINAW, Texas - Authorities in North Texas have identified the 6-year-old girl found dead, nude and wrapped in a tarp Monday.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner says the girl's name is Alanna Gallagher. They have not made public the girl's cause of death.

Two teenagers found Alanna's body in an intersection in Saginaw, Texas.

According to CBS DFW, the girl's time of death is listed as 7:33 p.m., not long before her body was found. One said the child's hands and feet were tied and her head was covered with a plastic shopping bag. 

Saginaw is home to about 17,000 residents about 10 miles north of Fort Worth. The FBI, the Texas Rangers and local police are investigating the case, which has shaken residents of the quiet Fort Worth suburb.

Speaking to reporters, Karl Gallagher asked anyone with information about his daughter's death to come forward, CBS DFW reported. ""Please respect our privacy during this time of tragedy," Gallagher said.

Investigators reportedly released a 911 call reporting the discovery of the girl's body. 

"I think it's a little girl in plastic bag someone dropped it off," the caller says. "I haven't even opened it all the way up but I can see the legs and everything. There's a belt around it. Tape."

Neighbors said the Willow Creek Elementary student was was often seen playing unsupervised outside, according to CBS DFW. The superintendent of the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District released a statement describing Alanna as bubbly and always happy.

Police reportedly said they were talking to the girl's family, but they were not considered suspects.
