NORMANDY, France -- On Monday, the "CBS Evening News" met Jim Martin of Xenia, Ohio. On D-Day in 1944, he parachuted into Normandy with the 101st Airborne Division. On Thursday, he performed an encore.
Martin, now 93, joined daredevils from all over the world to commemorate the D-Day anniversary. He landed on the same patch of land as he did 70 years ago, just behind Utah Beach.
Martin told CBS News that riding in the plane is boring; when you get off the plane, he said, it gets exciting.
"A little bit of ego, because I'm 93, and I can still do it. And also I just wanted to show all the people you don't sit and die because you get old," he said. "Keep doing things."
