An 11-year-old boy in Marietta, Georgia, is being called his mom's "guardian angel" after he jumped into action to help deliver his baby brother.

James Dukes was at home with his mother, Kenyarda, earlier this week when she suddenly went into labor earlier than expected.

"All of a sudden I couldn't get to the bed anymore, so I just collapsed on the floor," she said.

Just as suddenly, baby Royal came into the world. And with dad at work, James knew what he had to do.

"It didn't really scare me," he said, with poise beyond his years. "It was more just like, let me clean the baby off, make sure he's OK, make sure my mom's OK."

Then he called 911, and the emergency operator instructed him on what to do to keep the newborn safe and warm until help could arrive. Mother and baby are both doing fine, and the family couldn't be prouder of James.

"He was my help, he was my guardian angel. He was the man, he was the doctor, he was my superhero," Kenyarda said.

For James, helping with the delivery was a something he'll never forget, and it's given him a whole new goal in life. Now, instead of his dream of playing for the NFL, he says he plans to become a doctor.
