105-year-old woman throws out first pitch at Texas Rangers game

ARLINGTON, Texas -- At 105 years old, Elizabeth Sullivan had no problem throwing out the first pitch at Wednesday night's Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

She even charmed reporters in the press room afterward, CBS Dallas-Fort Worth reported.

"Oh, it was wonderful," Sullivan said. "You can't believe how wonderful it was... wait until you get to be 105."

She enjoyed the chance to take the mound through a relationship with Dr. Pepper, after she claimed to drink three cans of the soft drink every day.

"My favorite is the Dr. Pepper," said Sullivan. "I'll start out every morning with one... ice cold. Enjoy it. Then I have breakfast and watch TV or read a book."

Perhaps even more impressive, Sullivan doesn't take any medications. She said her doctor told her she simply doesn't need any.

When Sullivan took the field in her wheelchair, the crowd at Globe Life Park rose to its feet. When she stood up to toss the ball, they roared. Sullivan said it was one of the most exciting moments of her life.

"College when I got my degree, that was fun, with the hat on. And getting married was fun," Sullivan said. "But this was great too."

When Sullivan was born, Babe Ruth was still a few years from his first major league game. She was 50 when the Texas Rangers joined Major League baseball. She has several grand-kids... who are in their 40s.

Before Sullivan left the press room to watch the game, reporters asked one more question... her secret for longevity.

"I wish I knew," she said. "Because I'd write you a note, and every one of you would enjoy it."
