How much house can you buy for $750,000?

At more than three times the national median home value, which is $193,800 according to Zillow, many of these homes are located in buildings or neighborhoods where upgraded amenities are the norm.

In large metro areas like New York and Chicago, this means condos or co-ops with 24-hour concierge services or in-building grocery stores.

In Boca Raton, Florida, $750,000 will buy you a home in a neighborhood with community parks, swimming pools and tennis courts. In Pittsburgh, a budget that size means you could skip the neighborhood pools and swim in your own indoor pool.
