Poll: Less Than 1 in 4 Have Favorable View of Palin

(CBS)
She may be among the biggest names in politics at the moment, but former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is not exactly America's sweetheart.

Just 23 percent of those surveyed in a new CBS News poll have a favorable view of the former Alaska governor. That matches her favorable rating in July, when Palin announced she was resigning from her job as governor.

Thirty-eight percent, meanwhile, have an unfavorable view of Palin -- also roughly matching her July rating. Another 37 percent say they are undecided or haven't heard enough, despite the spotlight on Palin in recent days tied to the imminent publication of her memoir, "Going Rogue."

Unsurprisingly, Palin is far more popular with Republicans than Democrats. Fifty-two percent of Republicans have a favorable view of her, while 16 percent have an unfavorable view. By contrast, just four percent of Democrats view Palin favorably, while 57 percent say their opinion is not favorable.

Among independents, Palin has a net negative rating, with 21 percent viewing her favorably and 36 percent viewing her unfavorably.

VIEWS OF SARAH PALIN - BY POLITICAL PARTY
Rep Dem Ind
Favorable 52% 4% 21%
Not favorable 16% 57% 36%
Undecided/Haven't Heard Enough 32% 37% 40%

Most Americans do not want to see Palin run for president in 2012. Two in three say they don't want to see a Palin run, while 24 percent say they would like to see her jump into the race.

Republicans are divided: Forty-four percent want Palin to run, but even more -- 48 percent -- do not. Democrats, independents and even conservatives oppose a Palin run, while white evangelicals favor it by a slim margin, 48 percent to 42 percent.

All Rep Dem Ind Conservatives White evangelicals
Yes 24% 44% 9% 26% 41% 48%
No 66% 48% 83% 62% 50% 42%

Forty-three percent of Republicans think Palin would be an effective president, an improvement of ten points from the summer. But thirty-nine percent say she would not be.

Just 11 percent of Democrats and 29 percent of independents believe Palin could be an effective president. Overall, 26 percent of Americans say she could be effective in the job.

WOULD PALIN HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE AN EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT?

Sarah Palin is a joke best told behind closed doors. She is simply a malfunctioning Barbie Doll. Her supporters are wild about her, but every Republican politician in the country is running away from her because she sucks the air out of every room she enters because of her polarizing personality. Pretty? Maybe. Intelligent, who knows. Competent? No way.

The world today needs dynamic leadership for all the nations on earth. Nuclear weapons, global warming (polar icecaps melting threatening humans and animals), healthcare, world economy, wars and terrorism, the criminal justice system, infrastructure (bridges and roads and dams), social security, airline safety, education programs for after school, public transportation (railroads and bus'es), illegal immigrants, drug addiction (these are social problems that should be dealt with medically, not by our prison systems), mental health care, compassionate care for the aged, reevaluating our military commitments around the world, Veterans benefits, and a host of other problems. If Palin quits the job as governor of Alaska she would last about 15 minutes as President of the United States of America!

Mrs. Palin is exemplary of the modern media star; no apparent
talents or abilities, but the object of much attention.

I wonder what Levi has on Sarah Palin. She sure has done an about-face when talking about him since he told her to back off or he would disclose all her dirty secrets. GO LEVI!!! I would rather vote him into office then that mess, Sarah. Oh yeah, Sarah's daughter got knocked up by a known drug dealer's son. Mrs. Johnston and Rush Limbough (the hypocrite) should hook up and pop oxi-cotton together.

It's a sad statement about our nation when this woman has that much following. But it does explain the state we're in. I would like to see a comparative poll of people under 30. That might give us a good idea of where we're headed.

I would say that the figures look pretty good for Sarah.
With those that approve and those that are undecided or want to see more, she could be closer to 60%.
Might I remind the President's supporters that this is higher than his standing right now.

I question the accuracy of the poll. The numbers are not real. My expectation is that the people selected for the poll were not randomly selected.

Sarah Palin was a mistake. One of many made by the McCain campaign. I'm not saying she isn't funny or someone you might enjoy knowing, but as for speaking out about my political interests or expressing opinions on my stands about policy and beliefs . . . no. There's so much hype and downright lies being told by everyone that a person has to be careful who they back on any single issue. Sarah will never be in politics again unless it's in her dreams. I really don't see a reason for all the buzz about her. It's very comical.

For a Woman who Claimed, President Obama "Palled Around With Terrorist"

She sure as Hell Crossed Over 3 Time Zones To Meet President Obama, in Person.
_____

Jake Tapper Notes Below..

Palin to attend Alfalfa Club Dinner President Obama Will Be There Too

January 29, 2009

Washington DC's elite Alfalfa Club has only 200 or so members, mostly drawn from the worlds of business and politics (and specifically not from journalism).

Since 1913, the club has feted various leaders and jokingly nominated its own presidential candidates in an annual booze-and-giggles off-the-record black-tie dinner.

President George W. Bush attended the Alfalfa Club dinner every year of his presidency. And President Obama will be there Saturday night.

One other guest?

Yesterday in Juneau, Alaska, Gov. Sarah Palin told reporters she would be there.

Tapper: Strictly as an advocate for Alaska, of course.

?The Alfalfa dinner, Yes, in fact that?s because President Obama is scheduled to be there," Palin said.

"And how often will I have an opportunity to have dinner with the president ?

I will take up that offer to do so."

Jake Tapper:"I hope none of the "terrorists" whom Palin during the campaign repeatedly accused the President of "Palling around with" will be there ?

Could be a Security Issue !!

Folks,

I am extremely happy that Sarah Palin decided to follow the foot-steps of her mentor Rush Limbaugh. She is famous but wants to be super rich like Rush with or without a public office.

After GW Bush, Sarah is the best thing that has happened to the Democratic Party.

I look forward to the 'Going Rogue Part 2' book and the 'Going Rogue' movie. I hope the 23% of America whom love Sarah will buy her books.

When you poll the White House bed wetters and chief white house dog washer what do you expect? You actually think that Biden is a favorable choice? The circus will continue with the lying ring master and his cadre of freaks,at least till 2012.

lightning, I did not realize that this poll queried the White House bed wetters, and the chief White House dog washer, and not anybody else. I don't actually know who those folks, you mention are, but it can't be more than a few folks. Thanks for the information. You folks on the right continually get right down to the "reality" ...of the matter. this is always informing and elucidating and let's America know exactly how you folks view the world. Thanks for the continuing awareness that you folks always provide.

Sarah is the leader of the anti government crowd. At a time when the government is busily working against the greed of Wall Street and the big money men, the "Tea Party" folks have been rounded up by Dick Armey, et al, to oppose these efforts. Dick Armey, Freedomworks, etc, have efficiently organized and brainwashed the "Tea party" Sarah Palin crowd to work for the Wall Street interests that are ripping off Americans. The "Tea Party" folks don't know the difference. Congratulations Dick Armey for organizing the right wing to work against their own best interests and for the right of greedy Wall Street to rob Americaand Americans. They are totally clueless, you have these folks completely faked out, they are charging ahead, working in the interests of the Wall Street folks who brought the country to its knees, and they do not have a clue.

Too bad we do not have a leader, this guy is a joke. How much more money will we print before we wake up to the fact that we are just about owned by China, Japan etc.
China said this week that "you spend every nickle that we give you" how true.
