Shaniya Davis: Missing 5-Year-Old Seen in Horrifying Hotel Video

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (CBS/AP) Police have released horrifying still frames from a hotel surveillance video that shows a man carrying missing 5-year-old Shaniya Davis through a hotel hallway and towards an elevator.

Officials say a hotel worker called police to report seeing a child matching Shaniya's description, but by the time police got there, the man and child had left.

Police identified the man as Mario Andrette McNeill, according to Fayetteville Police spokeswoman Teresa Chance.

Shaniya was seen with him Tuesday, about an hour after she disappeared from her home in Fayetteville, roughly 30 miles away.

Authorities are uncertain of the connection between McNeill and the child, said Chance.

McNeill was arrested Friday and charged with kidnapping, but that has not led to police finding Shaniya.

Nor has the arrest of the girl's mother, Antoinette Davis, 25, who was arrested Saturday and charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse involving prostitution and filing a false police report.

Antoinette Davis reported the child's dissapearance from their Fayetteville mobile home park Nov. 10.

Searchers returned Monday to look for the girl as her father tearfully begged for her safe return on national television.

"We just ask that they bring her home safe," Bradley Lockhart said. "Shaniya, if you're listening to daddy, I miss you so much, honey. I'm waiting for you. I'm not going to give up. You don't give up either, honey."

I cant even start thinking what to write, this is probably the worst I have seen in my life, its that its happening everyday everywhere...right now, later and forever. I dont cry much, but this just made tears run down automatically, couldnt even control it. no they should not die right away (too easy), rather suffer for as long as possible, excruciating pain for as long as they can handle....I hope they suffer and suffer the worst possible...... These images are just to much.

Bury this garbage (the male AND the female garbage) alive, so they can asphyxiate like Shaniya had to undergo. I would happily take both their lives and serve whatever prison time society thought appropriate, just to not let this garbage BREATHE ONE MORE TIME when the poor girl is already dead. Police authorities, please let me know where they are incarcerated so I can disguise myself as a defense lawyer (another kind of garbage) and extinguish the lives they do not deserve.

I am outraged about this as well as Glen Nelson of Florida and his alleged infant rapes. Yes I said infant. Please read my blog regarding these situations and my elected officials basically ignoring me when I want to see change. I just left Shaniya Davis's candlelight vigil outside of her home tonight. Folks are ANGRY and HURT. Someone at the vigil said "not to judge". It's impossible not to though. An innocent child has died HORRIBLY. Imagine what pain that child must have felt as she slipped away from this world after being raped, beaten, and choked. I hope that sicko McNeill and the idiotic mother get everything comin to 'em...

I follow most stories about missing children, but something about seeing this man holding her in his arms, and her holding onto him in trust, just sends me into an absolute blind rage, it just fills me with a fury deeper than I could ever have believed I would feel for a stranger. Her little feet dangling over his arms, and she just has this complacent look on her face, no fear, just trust. Because no child would EVER believe that their mother would hand them over to someone that would hurt them. That's the hardest thing for me to deal with, looking at her little face, and knowing she had no idea what was in store for her. That's the worst part...I don't know why these grainy surveillance videos affect me so, but they do. There are no thoughts, no violence, nothing that comes to mind that could be bad enough for what this man deserves. I don't think I'll ever get that image out of my head, her little hand holding onto him.

"Horrifying" and "Chilling"... Two of the most overused words in America today. Just lightly less irritating than "Connecting the dots", "Ramping up" or "Boots on the ground".

just look at her tiny hands and feet , just 5 years old . this is the most heart wrenching ,vile, in humane act to do to a child . something must be done to put the fear of god in any person who even thinks of doing what that sick ****** did to her . this @#&$ needs to stop ! children need to feel safe in the world today , it is no fair that kids and parents have to be worried sick about their[kids] safety like they do these days

there were so many children before this beautiful little girl , for all of them and for her i have to ask as a believer in god where was god ? okay i believe in free will too lord but to an extent and this crosses the line . no child should ever have to face such a fearful, frightening thing such as this .. ever ! i am sick to death of hearing stories in the news just like this 1 . god where is your mercy ? not only is it how can a mother allow this to happen to her child and willingly hand her over , but how could god let this happen to her . in this world okay we were put here , not of ourselves but by a higher power , where is love and protection we each deserve when we are thrown into this world . doesn't any body love us god ..

You are right. There are no gods, only one God! I think if people would stop saying "There is no God!" then more people would believe in God and fear his wrath on them for doing such vile things, but What comes to mind is SIN. It is our sins that hurt people!!! Not God. If God was to get rid of all evil He would have to destroy ALL people because we are ALL responsible for hurting other people. People want to blame God for human suffering but it is our fault.

What does God do when He sees an innocent person hurt? He cries and He judges. Just because you don't see Him doing something today, doesn't mean He won't judge it. The wicked will be punished.

And it is important to remember that God can understand what it is like to innocently suffer. Jesus came off His throne in heaven, lived a sinless life, and was tortured beyond description and crucified. He bore our sins on the cross. Every wicked thing, all our sins were laid upon Him as He hung there. He felt it all.

So our hope is not in a life free of suffering here, but a hope of life free of suffering for eternity through faith in Him.

To all those pple that believe in gods, where were they? Why did they bring forth such a pretty innocent little girl to be raped & murdered? What did she do to anyone.
There are no gods but there certainly are evil pple.
One can only hope that the criminals that had involvement in these crimes suffer horribly to the end of their lives.

The father admitted the child was a result from a 1 night stand. He stood up and acted 9we hope) as a good and loving father......what on earth possessed him to send his daughter to live with her mother? Were there visits leading up to this? Did he vet her?....the guilt he will feel for the rest of his life.
If the accusations are true and the mother did let her daughter go with this monster for sex PUT THEM BOTH TO DEATH!

Horrendous, completely evil act. I hope all involved are punished as severely as possible. However, *please* stop calling the little girl an angel. If you are Christian, then you should know that it states right in the Bible many times that angels were created by God to carry out God's will. But a person cannot become an angel, we don't die and become "angels", it's impossible and not something anyone would want, anyway, as angels cannot have human emotions and ideals; they are only servants of God. We are children of God, not God's servants. It's actually insulting to call her an angel and it takes away her humanness.

This was a sweet, innocent, beautiful little child, a precious human being who should have grown up protected and cherished. Unique and special in her own right. And wherever she is now, I hope it's filled with love and peace.

What exactly is "horrifying" about a still photo of a man carrying someone into the elevator?? "Horrifying" is seeing blood on the floor and a knife wielding nut slashing someone.

I am not a Christian in fact I am quite agnostic. However I do believe in a higher judgement when death comes. This beautiful child has been exploited by the person she trusted the most. To be denied a childhood full of love, learning and compassion. To know that in this country justice will not be served in a timely manner. We have to put a stop to this perverse view of life. I'm no puritan. But common respect and decency seem sto have fallen by the wayside.

First I BLAME the MEDIA...had they not of ever published that tape of the loser carrying the baby at the hotel surely they could of identified him and stormed the hotel and found her alive, SECOND, and this will be unpopular but I blame the FATHER for allowing this precious baby out of his sight! JUST because the mother said she wanted to "be a mother" didn't make it true, there has to be many reasons why he had custody of the child so WHY in all that is holy allow her to go? He basically sent her to a horrific rape and death..that is nothing any father should want for his baby girl! I feel bad for him but surely he KNEW she was evil and not to be trusted...KEEP your kids close, there are sickos who think sex with children is okay and its the most sick, twisted thing I can imagine anyone thinking is acceptable! May she HANG and the pedophile who took her, she was going to grow up stunning you can see by her pictures...SICK...SICK...SICK....and to see her little hand just holding onto that man! HOW could he do this to her? HOW? She trusted adults and all of them failed her!

Doubt it, the penalty for kidnapping is the same as MURDER, so once he kidnapped her he condemned himself to the death penalty, in which case why would he let her live to tell or testify against him?

OMG... this is most heart breaking! I am sick of seeing/reading cases like these! I agree with the person that said that these people should be dragged in public and stoned to death!

These babies keep coming up missing and found dead one after another. This is what people become because they are so miserable and evil these days. The last little girl Sommer in FL/GA who was thrown in garbage and now this little girl. This makes most of us physically sick, it does me. Why doesnt it make the authorities feel the same way where we can just give them straight up a bullet in the head? Torturing them would make us just as sick as them, although I have had to chase thoughts away wanting to help God out thinking about ways to end their life.
